In the present invention diterpenes capable of modulating the expression of extracellular matrix components in human dermal fibroblasts are described. Eleven neo-clerodane diterpenes were isolated and their structure was determined by spectroscopic and spectrometric techniques; including their absolute configuration by X-ray diffraction analysis. The invention further relates to extracts and/or standardized fractions of said compounds isolated therefrom, with wound healing activity, useful as agents in dermopharmaceutical and cosmetic compositions.
