The present invention relates to a vaccine produced in plants against diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus known as DPT triple vaccine. The vaccine includes an immunogenic complex from the transformation of tomato with a chimeric gene optimized for expression in plants, encoding a novel recombinant polypeptide which does not exist in nature and which contains the major immunoprotective epitopes for diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus. The methods for constructing the genetic transformation vector and the methods of regeneration by plant tissue culture are also described. The results of antibody production in mice tests are also presented, which may be useful for mammalian immunization.
